16-21 Nov - Krefeld, Germany - Markus Jansen's House This is where Thomas slept in Krefeld, Germany, for several nights during the German leg of the tour. The night before, we'd missed our Easy Jet flight from London. Markus picked us up at the airport in Cologne as Philip Lethen was in Berlin photographing someone famous. Thomas was jet-lagged and exhausted already and missed a night of sleep. He had a cold and it was lucky he had a comfortable warm room with a bed. The Hornicator and I never get colds but Thomas almost always does at one point or other on these tours. Unlike us he always has to sleep in different surroundings, some less nice than others. Sometimes it's just a floor. Here Markus gave him this bed and made him lots of cappucinos and Philip took him to fine Krefeld dining spots and got him medicine and the cold died and the German portion of the tour turned out to be a great experience thanks in large part to these fantastic new friends. The great Paul Wallfisch (of Botanica and sometimes our piano player) slept in this bed just before and just after as he was also on tour here but unfortunately our tours just missed actually overlapping. It was nice of Paul to fluff up the pillow before he left though. |
